Worth It
Got loaded up, tore away from all you knew, and all you had
Started new, just for me, I’ve never known this kinda love
I didn’t know how to be, I’d only know you from so far, so far away
We held on tight to uncertainty’s chest, wished for the best, then push came to shove
We’ve traveled over mountains, o’er these ragin’ stormy seas
We’ve been through hell and high water, you and me
Through the struggle, the joy, and the pain, and through all these fears
You’re worth it, you’re worth it, babe, you’re worth every tear
Is love some sick and twisted wound, ill with young and naive dreams
Or is it a chance to grow beyond, lose ourselves, to find our way
Remember that day, in that vacant lot, it was the worst I’ve had and since.
We made it through, a little scraped and bruised but we’re stronger for our stay
Through the struggle, the joy, and the pain, and through all these years
You’re worth it, still worth it, babe, you’re worth every tear

Music and lyrics by Dylan Rooke
Singer-songwriter Dylan Rooke experiments with the intersection of folk, rock, and some punk grit. Joining with some old
friends who formed the accompanying band Red Coal, together they have overlaid vocal harmonies, modern electric and traditional acoustic instruments, to orchestrate a balance between the dynamics of their songs, bringing with them many anthems to be sung arm in arm....more
A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer

The Canadian singer-songwriter and environmental activist excels at helping to find a silver lining; everything is transitory, but that doesn’t mean it’s unsurmountable. Bandcamp Album of the Day Feb 18, 2020
